HANOVER TOWNSHIP, LEHIGH COUNTY, Pa. — First responders are working to clear the runway at Lehigh Valley International Airport after a small aircraft flipped onto its back during a landing Friday morning.
Colin Riccobon, director of public and government relations at Lehigh-Northampton Airport Authority, confirmed a Cessna flipped about 10:40 a.m.
First responders are evaluating the pilot, who was the only person on board the aircraft, Riccobon said.
LNAA's Aircraft Rescue and Firefighting Department responded to the crash, as did mutual aid partners from surrounding communities, Riccobon said.
The Federal Aviation Administration already is on scene investigating the incident, he said.
The crash does not appear to have disrupted normal operations at the airport.
LVIA's website reported that the 11:48 a.m. Allegiant Air flight from Sanford, Fla. arrived on time, and the 12:38 p.m. flight to Myrtle Beach is expected to depart as scheduled.
