ALLENTOWN, Pa. — A man is due to be extradited from Florida to face homicide charges related to a deadly 2023 shooting in Allentown, according to authorities.
Alberto Jose Rios-Santiago, 26, of Deltona, Florida, also was charged with two counts each of aggravated assault and possessing instruments of a crime, the Lehigh County District Attorney’s Office.
Rios-Santiago is accused of fatally shooting 28-year-old Blessing Tavares and injuring two others outside the Mamajuana Restaurant and Grill on Union Boulevard early Jan. 22, 2023.
He was arrested Thursday in Florida and is awaiting extradition, authorities said.
Details about the investigation and charges were not immediately available Thursday afternoon, as the criminal complaint filed against Rios-Santiago still was sealed.
