2023 Allentown Fair queen crowned after competition with 4 other finalists

Kamryn Fink, 17, of Germansville, is crowned queen of the 2023 Great Allentown Fair on opening night Wednesday, Aug. 30. She was one of five finalists and becomes community spokesperson for the 171st agricultural and entertainment exposition.

ALLENTOWN, Pa. — The queen of the 2023 Great Allentown Fair was crowned on opening night.

    The winner, 17-year-old Kamryn Fink of Germansville in Heidelberg Township, becomes community spokesperson for the 171st agricultural and entertainment exposition.

    Finalists competed in the four phases of the contest: an interview with the judging panel; an evening gown/introduction; a speech presentation; and an impromptu question to answer.

    Fink is a senior at Northwestern Lehigh High School, where she has earned Principal's Honor Roll status and the Pennsylvania Academic Achievement Award.

    Involved in SADD, student council, the 4-H Livestock Club and the cooking club, she has received numerous awards, including the Spirit of Kempton Fair Award and Grand Champion Market Hog, among others.

    She also is a member of the Lehigh County 4-H Potato Judging Team and has secured scholarships for events like the PA Agriscience Summit. Outside school, Fink assists her family's commercial hog business. After graduation, she plans to attend Delaware Valley University in Doylestown, Pa.

    Five contestants competed to inherit the title from the 2022 queen, Allison Emanuel of Laurys Station.

    Fink will receive a $1,500 scholarship from Lehigh-Northampton Pomona Grange #68 and the Allentown Fairgrounds Farmers Market.

    Here are the other finalists who competed:

    Atong Madok, the 17-year-old daughter of Maieek Madok from Allentown, is a senior at William Allen High School who has achieved dual enrollment status at Lehigh Carbon Community College as an early college student. Upon her high school graduation, Atong will have already earned an associate’s degree from Lehigh Carbon Community College.

    She was the recipient of a grant from Penn State University which acknowledges her work on studying the impact of oil spills on bird feathers and effective cleanup methods. Beyond her academic pursuits, Atong is involved in tennis, art club, track and yoga. She's also a clarinet player with a passion for creative writing. Her future plans include attending a four-year institution, where she intends to major in microbiology and potentially minor in film or creative writing.

    Cyani Gonzalez, a 17-year-old from Allentown and the daughter of Jeannette Cruz, is a senior honor roll student at Bethlehem Catholic High School, where she's earned the FE Internship. Her activities include competitive dance, color guard, baton twirling, tennis and cheerleading.

    Cyani's summer internship is with the United Way of the Greater Lehigh Valley, and she volunteers with Drum Corps International and Small Steps Big Dreams, teaching dance to children. At Bethlehem Catholic she participates inthe Eco Club, Peer Listening and Mock Trial. She plans to attend college, majoring in early childhood and special education.

    Laura Henderson, a 17-year-old, is the daughter of Matthew and Jennifer Henderson from New Tripoli. She's a senior honor roll student at Northwestern Lehigh High School. Laura participates in dance and is a member of 4-H Drawing.

    Her achievements in the 4-H livestock arena include securing the titles of Reserve Grand Champion Market Steer and Reserve Grand Champion Showmanship at both the Schuylkill and Kempton county fairs. With a strong affinity for agriculture, she is actively engaged in the farming community. Following her high school graduation, she aspires to attend a four-year institution to pursue a major in ultrasound technology.

    Maria Terrones, a 17-year-old and the daughter of Vivian Mesias from Allentown, is a senior at William Allen High School while also enrolled in Lehigh Carbon Community College as an early college student. Maria's academic achievements have earned her a place on the honor roll, and she holds the position of president within the Kutztown Upward Bound Program.

    Upon her high school graduation, Maria will have already secured an associate’s degree from Lehigh Carbon Community College. Her future plans include attending a four-year institution, where she intends to major in Interior Architecture and Design.

    In January, the Allentown Fair queen will join the Pennsylvania State Fair Queen Contest hosted in Hershey, Pa. The Allentown Fair Association covers the expense of the trip.
