ALLENTOWN, Pa. — Allentown officials and a Montgomery County consulting firm are set to spend the next year mapping out the future of the city’s parks and recreational facilities.
And residents can join the process starting at 6 p.m. Wednesday at Bucky Boyle Park to weigh in on Allentown’s Comprehensive Recreation, Open Space & Parks Plan and offer any potential improvements.
Allentown officials are working with Simone Collins Landscape Architecture of Norristown to develop the parks plan, with the work partly funded by a grant from the Community Conservation Partnerships Program.
Further meetings are scheduled for Jan. 8 and the East Side Youth Center; Feb. 26 at Ripple Church; April 30 at Theatre 514; and June 25 at Fearless Fire Co.
They are set to develop a master plan for three major parks — Bucky Boyle Park, Fountain Park and Roosevelt Park — and “identify projects and recreational programs that address the city’s evolving needs,” according to a news release.
The meeting at Bucky Boyle Park is slated to be the first of five.
