ALLENTOWN, Pa. — A pedestrian died Monday morning, hours after she was hit by a vehicle in Allentown, according to authorities.
The woman, 69, was struck about 5:30 a.m. Monday near Hamilton and Franklin streets, Lehigh County Coroner Daniel Buglio said.
She was taken to a local hospital, where she died at 9:29 a.m., Buglio said.

The woman has been identified, but officials are withholding her name until an autopsy is complete and family are notified, Buglio said.
The driver stayed at the scene of the crash and is cooperating with the investigation, Allentown Police Captain Kyle Pammer said in a news release.
Officials are asking anyone with information about the crash to call Allentown Police Department’s Traffic Division at 610-437-7732.
The fatal crash is the first involving a pedestrian in Allentown this year.
A pedestrian was seriously injured during a hit-and-run crash early March 7, but officials said the man was expected to survive. Police have provided no updates about the investigation into that crash.
Officials last week officially launched the city's Safe Streets and Roads for All program, which in part aims to eliminate pedestrian fatalities on Allentown roadways by 2030.
Mayor Matt Tuerk extended his condolences Monday afternoon.
“I’m crushed by the loss of life on a city street this morning," he said in a statement. "My heart is with the loved ones and with our community as we grapple with this tragedy.
Tuerk said Allentown officials are "committed to building infrastructure that prioritizes human life above all else."
"No one should lose their life trying to cross a street in Allentown," he said.
"I ask everyone in the Lehigh Valley to join me in that commitment — by slowing down, staying alert and treating every intersection, every crosswalk and every street as a shared space," Tuerk said.
