ALLENTOWN, Pa. — The Moxy, downtown Allentown's new 133-room boutique hotel, will open Jan. 15, owners said Thursday.
Moxy Hotels, which calls itself "Marriott International’s experiential hotel brand," said Moxy Allentown Downtown will be the brand’s first hotel in Pennsylvania.
Reservations already are being taken online.
Room rates are listed as low as $156 on weekdays and $189 on weekends.
Located at 949 W. Hamilton St., the hotel will be operated by Gulph Creek Hotels.

The $27 million, 55,000-square-foot, five-story "playful Moxy Allentown Downtown with its signature Bar Moxy" will feature several public gathering spaces on the ground floor, the chain said.
The brand signature Bar Moxy will feature nightly DJs and performers, a lounge, a library, a courtyard with yard games, and a yet-to-be-named restaurant, Moxy Hotels said.

Each Moxy Hotel worldwide has an interior design unique to its location.
The Moxy Allentown Downtown, which was designed by Bernardon, features carnival-themed décor in a nod to Allentown’s Dorney Park around the 1930s.
Standard among Moxy Hotels, some of its rooms feature bunkbeds, another sign of the unique brand’s appeal to fun seekers.
Broke ground in 2023
Built by North Star Construction Management, the pet-friendly Moxy will offer "small-but-smart tech-enabled bedrooms and creative daily programming," the chain said.
"Moxy guests will be instantly welcomed into a playful stay with check-in at the bar in the buzzing lobby, complete with a complimentary cocktail," it said.
City Center developers broke ground in October 2023 on the hotel after a row of empty buildings was demolished.
For much of 2023, The Moxy's completion date always seemed about a year away.
City Center presented plans to Allentown officials in 2023 that showed The Moxy was on a similar opening timeline with The Archer Music Hall, the developer’s other project on the 900 block of Hamilton Street.
Company executives in March 2023 said the venue was scheduled to open in spring 2024. By July 2023, that opening was pushed back to summer 2024.
Besides the soon-to-open Archer, the hotel will be a few blocks from the PPL Center arena, new Da Vinci Science Center and Renaissance Allentown Hotel.
"The Moxy joins sister Marriott property the Renaissance Allentown Hotel in inviting travelers to connect with the local downtown Allentown community," the chain said.
"The Moxy’s walkable Downtown West neighborhood is already home to several apartment communities, office buildings, and shops and restaurants."
