ALLENTOWN, Pa. — A rising blues singer who has captured audiences by incorporating influences of classic rock, R&B and punk into her music will headline Allentown’s 16th Blues, Brews & Barbecue festival, it was announced Friday.
The free Blues Brews and Barbecue festival will be noon-10 p.m. June 22 along downtown Allentown's Hamilton Street from 5th Street to 9th Street, and on North and South 7th Street.Greater Lehigh Valley Chamber of Commerce news release
Nikki Hill will perform at the festival, which will be noon to 10 p.m. Saturday, June 22, along Hamilton Street from Fifth to Ninth streets, and on North and South Seventh Street.
The free festival, held by the City of Allentown, the Downtown Allentown Business Alliance and Allentown Chamber of Commerce, also will offer food, including all styles of barbecue, crafters and non-food vendors.
Blues, Brews & Barbecue also will feature alcoholic drinks – domestic and craft brews, cocktails and wine.
Hill has become internationally acclaimed over her three-album career, which started with her debut disc “Here’s Nikki Hill” in 2013. Her latest disc was 2018’s “Feline Roots.”
She has toured Europe, Australia and North America, performed at more than 30 festivals, and collaborated with Buddy Guy and George Thorogood.
Opening for Hill will be multi-award-winning Ghost Town Blues Band, whose newest album, “SHINE,” debuted at No. 1 on Billboard’s Blues Album chart and who have headlined festivals such as The Montreal Jazz Festival.
Other top acts at Blues, Brews & Barbecue will be The Badlees guitarist Dustin Douglas and the Electric Gentlemen, Bryant Brothers, Mississippi Pig Farmers and Lehigh Valley favorites such as The Craig Thatcher Band.
