SOUTH WHITEHALL TWP, Pa. – The first night of Dorney Park’s Halloween Haunt marks the unofficial start to the spooky season in the Lehigh Valley. It turns the theme park from daring and thrilling to a frightful and chilling experience.
- Dorney Park transforms into a Halloween-themed amusement park for October
- Halloween Haunt runs until October 29, 2022
- "No boo" necklaces are available for purchase
On Haunt nights, hundreds of monsters, ghouls and zombies are released into the park on a mission to scare up some screams from visitors. Fog creeps along the various scare zones around the park, creating an eerie setting.
While the entire park is decorated for the event, the designated “scare zones” are a dead-ringer for frightening fun. Each zone is themed and staffed with employees dressed to thrill in cosplay and costume. Some zones are more than a walk-through to different areas of the park and include season-specific attractions and performances.
However, not everyone likes a good scare.
For those visitors, a special “No boo” necklace can be purchased to let the monsters in the park know not to spook them. It’s a light-up necklace with a skull which makes for a fun keepsake as well.
Opening night for the haunt was full of visitors big and small, including 4-year-old William and his brother from Coopersburg. The boys were fearless walking through a cave-like attraction wearing their “No boo” necklaces. When asked what their favorite part was, they said, “the spooky part,” followed by their best and scariest monster impressions.
The Halloween Haunt runs every weekend through October 19. For details on the event including tickets, schedule and a list of attractions visit the Dorney Park website.
