- Emmaus' Farewell to Summer festival returns this weekend on Saturday, September 16 from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m.
- Various local craftspeople, businesses, food and more will be on display and available for attendees
- The Emmaus Historical Society is planning the Emmaus Heritage Festival in tandem to engage people with the borough's past
EMMAUS, Pa. — Local artisans, food, activities music and more will be coming to Emmaus this Saturday to bid adieu to the summer weather and greet the fall.
Emmaus' Farewell to Summer festival is back and gearing up for an exciting day for those of all ages in what organizers say has become "a cherished tradition" in the Emmaus community.
The festival will take place Saturday, September 16 from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. in downtown Emmaus in and near Triangle Park.
"We're sad to see summer go, but we're excited to come together for one last hurrah before the autumn season begins," Emmaus Main Street Manager and Assistant Vice President of Affiliated Chambers Hayden Rinde said in a release. "This event has always been about celebrating our community and showcasing the incredible offerings of our local entrepreneurs and organizations."
An assortment of booths from local businesses, artists, and craftspeople will be out throughout the festival area, along with various food truck options.
A Scarecrow-themed trail of many local businesses and restaurants throughout the borough will be laid out — each with special giveaways.
Various events will take place throughout the day, including:
- 11:00-1:00 — Meet & Greet the Emmaus Hornet
- 11:00-2:00 — Emmaus Arts Commission Chalk the Walk Challenge
- 12:00-12:30 — Lehigh Valley Martial Arts Tai Chi and Karate Demonstration
- 12:30 — Free screening of the Super Mario Bros. Movie at the Emmaus Theater
- 1:30 - 1:45 — Free interactive Yoga Demo with
- 1:45 - 2:00 — Repertory Dance Theater Performance
- 3:00 — Chalk the Walk Winner Announcement
Alongside that, the Emmaus Arts Commission will provide a sidewalk "canvas" so that all ages can participate in a family-friendly art competition, completing a piece based on the theme of "My Favorite Summer Activity" with sidewalk chalk.
In tandem with the festival will be the Emmaus Historical Society's annual Heritage Festival in the Emmaus Historical Society building at 218 Main Street Emmaus, PA 18049, and the Knauss Homestead.
According to the historical society, their event will feature live music, a PA long rifle demonstration, interactive displays, and a blacksmith demonstration.
