BETHLEHEM, Pa. — Comedian Gabriel Iglesias, best known for his Comedy Central channel specials “I’m Not Fat … I’m Fluffy,” will headline the main stage at Bethlehem's Musikfest festival in August, it was announced Monday.
Iglesias will perform Aug. 10.
The show is the fifth Musikfest headliner announced so far for Musikfest's 40th year, which will run Aug. 4-13 in downtown Bethlehem and the SteelStacks campus in South Bethlehem.
It's just the third time, and first time in five years, that Musikfest has had a comedian as the main stage headliner. It first happened in the festival's 32nd year, with Jerry Seinfeld as the first comedian headliner in 2015, and most recently in 2018 with Jim Gaffigan.
Previously announced for Musikfest's main stage were indie-pop trio AJR on opening night Aug. 4, opening night; Grammy Award-winning country music duo Dan + Shayon Aug. 6; alt-rockers Goo Goo Dolls and O.A.R. on Aug. 9; and country music/hip-hop chart-topper Maren Morris on Aug. 12.

Iglesias has performed frequently in recent years at Wind Creek Event Center and has sold out nearly every show.
In addition to his shows at the event center, Iglesias drew 4,000 people to a performance at Allentown Fair in 2018.
Iglesias, who is celebrating 25 years in comedy, has more than 400 million views on YouTube and his sixth one‐hour comedy special, “I’m Sorry For What I Said When I Was Hungry,” has been streaming on Netflix since late 2016.
He is among the few comedians ever to sell out Madison Square Garden.
Iglesias from 2019-2020 starred in and was executive producer of the Netflix comedy series “Mr. Iglesias,” in which he played a good-natured public high school teacher who works at his alma mater.
Iglesias also is a favorite on Comedy Central, had his own show, “Stand-Up Revolution,” that ran 2011-14 and still is shown on the channel. The cable network’s premiere of his two‐night comedy special “Gabriel Iglesias: Aloha Fluffy” in 2013 reached 15 million viewers.
Musikfest for the past two years has not only returned from the pandemic restrictions, but added an 11th headline act by offering a Thursday “preview” concert. It was country star Darius Rucker in 2021 and Boyz II Men last year.
