Well, they’re back, and the force is with them now more than ever.
The orchestra is gearing up to present "Star Wars: The Empire Strikes Back," featuring a screening of the complete movie.
Fans can experience the epic space opera through a symphonic concert experience at 7:30 p.m. on Oct. 6. It will be led by acclaimed conductor Thiago Tiberio, according to a news release by the Allentown Symphony Association.
Tiberio specializes in live musical synchronization to movies and has led orchestras in scoring sessions during most of his career. He's worked with Disney to premier "Star Wars Live in Concert" in France, Portugal and Brazil.
“The Allentown Symphony Orchestra is thrilled to be continuing the Star Wars saga at the PPL Center with 'The Empire Strikes Back,'” Allentown Symphony Executive Director Al Jacobsen said.
“Audience members said it was just like the music in the original film and often more noticeable since the volume of the music in the film is often turned down below the dialogue and sound effects.”Allentown Symphony Executive Director Al Jacobsen

The original movie came out in 1980.
In it, Imperial Forces are at war with the Rebel Alliance. Han Solo (Harrison Ford) and Princess Leia (Carrie Fisher) are captured by Darth Vader. Luke Skywalker (Mark Hamill) encounters Jedi Master Yoda, who helps him learn the ways of the Force. The movie ends in a duel where an astonishing secret is revealed.
All of that is set against a musical score by composer John Williams. It received an Oscar nomination that year for Best Original Score.
In total, Williams has earned 53 Academy Award nominations throughout his career. He is the Academy’s most-nominated person alive, and is the second most-nominated person ever, after Walt Disney.
Tickets for Star Wars: The Empire Strikes Back go on sale at 10 a.m. on Friday, March 24 at the PPL Center Website.
