Archer Music Hall announces series featuring Pennsylvania acts; Scranton hard-rockers to kick it off

Scranton metalcore band Motionless in White will open the new Pennsylvania's Own concert series of Keystone State-connected bands at Allentown's Archer music hall on May 9. Tickets go on sale at 10 a.m. Friday, Apil 18.

ALLENTOWN, Pa. — Call them home state heroes.

Archer Music Hall, the new downtown concert venue, has announced a concert series that will showcase Pennsylvania acts.

The series, called Pennsylvania’s Own, will start May 9 with Motionless in White, the Scranton metalcore band that has had three of its albums hit No. 1 on Hard Rock chart and two gold-selling singles.

Tickets for Motionless in White go on sale at 10 a.m. Friday, April 18, at the Archer websiteor the venue box office at 939 Hamilton St., Allentown.

Tickets, the prices of which were not immediately released, go on sale at 10 a.m. Friday, April 18, at the Archer website or the venue box office at 939 Hamilton St., Allentown.

Subsequently scheduled Pennsylvania's Own performances include Philadelphia hardcore/hip-hop hybrid band Gridiron as the supporting act for Sanguisugabogg on May 12.

Also scheduled is high-charting Lancaster rock band From Ashes to New on June 13.

More artists for the Pennsylvania’s Own series will be announced soon, Archer announced in a news release.

The series "is designed to showcase and honor the rich musical heritage of the Keystone State across a variety of genres," the release said.

"The series will feature an impressive lineup of homegrown artists, including arena headliners, classic legends, local heroes and emerging favorite bands."

The Archer already offered Lehigh Valley born-and-bred hardcore punk rockers Pissed Jeans on March 12, a show that drew a strong crowd in Archer's smaller Arrow room.

Kicking off Pennsylvania's Own will be Motionless in White, best known for its gothic pop 2018 single "Voices" and its 2020 single "Another Life,' both of which achieved gold sales.

Its 2022 song "Masterpiece" became the band's first to hit No. 1 on the Mainstream Rock chart.

The group formed in 2004 and played its early shows in the Scranton area under the names One Way Ticket and When Breathing Stops.

In all the group has had 16 Top 30 hits on the Mainstream Rock and Hard Rock charts.

It released its debut album, "Creatures," as Motionless in White in 2010 and had immediate success, hitting No. 18 on the Hard Rock Albums chart.

Its second album, 2012's "Infamous," hit No. 5 on that chart and produced the band's first charting single, "A-M-E-R-I-C-A (featuring Michael Vampire)," which broke the Top 30 on the Mainstream Rock chart.

But the group moved to bigger success with its third album, 2014's "Reincarnate," which topped the Hard Rock chart and crossed over to the Top 10 on Billboard's overall Albums chart.

Its 2017 album "Graveyard Shift" also hit No. 1 and produced the gold single "Voices," and was followed by the 2019 disc "Disguise," which peaked at No. 2 and produced the gold hit "Another Life."

The band's most recent disc, 2022's "Scoring the End of the World," also topped the Hard Rock chart and hit No. 12 on the overall Albums chart.

The group's most recent singles, 2022's "Werewolf" and 2023's Signs of Life," peaked at Nos. 10 and 8, respectively on the Mainstream Rock chart.

In all the group has had 16 Top 30 hits on the Mainstream Rock and Hard Rock charts.
