Cagle first had success with his 2000 debut single, "My Love Goes On and On," which hit No. 15 on the Country Singles chart.
His debut album, "Play It Loud," that year reached No. 19 and reached gold sales.
That album also included "I Breathe In, I Breathe Out," which was his biggest hit and only chart-topper. Also on that album was the Top 10 hit "Laredo."
His self-titled album also reached gold and even crossed over onto Billboard's general Albums chart, hitting No. 15, and produced two Top 10 hits — "What a Beautiful Day" and "Chicks Dig It."
In 2002, he was nominated for the Academy of Country Music's Top New Male Vocalist.
His third album, 2005's "Anywhere But Here," peaked at No. 4, and 2008's "My Life's Been a Country Song" put him back at No. 1, and also crossed over to No. 8 on the overall chart with the hit "What Kinda Gone."
His 2012 album "Back in the Saddle," peaked at No. 6 and produced two Top 20 Country hits, "Got My Country On" and "Let There Be Cowgirls."
In all, he had nine singles that hit the Top 20 on the Country chart.
In the late 2000s, Cagle had legal problems, arrested for domestic assault and suspicion of drunken driving.
In 2015, Cagle announced his retirement from the music industry.
He now has a new album out, "Unfinished Business."
