EASTON, Pa. — In less than one month, organizers of the Freddy Awards are gearing up to announce which schools will participate in this year's awards ceremony.
The awards show is now in its 23rd year and will take place on May 22 at the State Theatre.
Hundreds of talented high school students from schools across the Lehigh Valley and Warren County, New Jersey — will compete in the ceremony which recognizes excellence in high school musical theater.
Leading up to the big announcement, here's a roundup of the upcoming 2025 high school musicals brought to you by 2024's Freddy Awards winners and nominees.
Bethlehem Catholic
To kick off the second semester, members of the drama department will debut a production of "If the Good Lord is Willing and the Creek Don’t Rise."
Showtimes are 7 p.m. on Jan. 10 through Jan. 12.
Additionally, the school will hold a spring production of "Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat" on April 27 through May 3.
Tickets for both performances cost $10-$12.

Easton Area High School
This spring, the school will hold a production of "Curtains," a musical mystery comedy that takes place in Boston, Massachusetts.

Emmaus High School
In 2024, thespians from the school took home four Freddy Awards (Outstanding Featured Actor, Outstanding Solo Vocal Performance, Outstanding Production Number and Outstanding Performance by a Male Ensemble Member).
This spring, the ensemble returns with a production of the Abba-approved "Mamma Mia!"

Freedom High School
In 2024, the high school won two Freddy Awards (Outstanding Use of Costumes and Outstanding Use of Choreography and Musical Staging).
In April, students from the theater department will debut "Nice Work If You Can Get It!"
Leading the cast are: Kayden Taylor, Tori Prostko, Cole Faccinetto, Ovidius Cusu, Jillian Potter, Sam Beardall, Kiersten Rubery, Mariyah Russell, Daniel Rivera, Emma Geiselman, Kensington Matol, Charlotte Korrapati, Leah McClure, Idelis Reyes, Marytheresa Fiorini, John Jabbour, Lucas Yaguez and Diamani Dawson.
Showtimes are at 7 p.m. April 11 through April 13.

Nazareth Area High School
In 2024, the school's theatre troupe won four awards including Outstanding Performance by an Orchestra and Outstanding Performance by an Actress in a Supporting Role.
In April, the troupe is back with a rendition of "Suessical" based on the famous words by Dr. Suess.
The performance will take place April 3-6.

Northwestern Lehigh High School
The drama club recently held rehearsals for its spring production of "Pippin!"
Lead cast members include Justine Gross, Alana Almeida, Ben Smith, Baylin Gillenberger, Charlotte Storch, Miley Divers, Anja Bisignani, Sophie Freund and Kayla Kinney.
Tickets and performance dates will be announced in January.

Parkland
The winners of the 2024 Freddy Awards' Outstanding Ensemble return with a production of "Les Miserables."
Showtimes are scheduled for April 2-6.
