SOUTH WHITEHALL TWP., Pa. — A new pride event with a spooky twist is coming to Dorney Park.
Bradbury-Sullivan LGBT Community Center will hold its first Ghouls & Glitter Pride Night at Dorney Park on Friday, Oct. 13. It hopes to make it an annual event.
“There's nothing unlucky about the fun that will be had at this unique Pride Night event!” the event description reads.
The event will be in one of the park’s pavilions, with a special event ticket purchase required for entry.
It will have a dance party with DJ Brad Scott, drag performances from Elektra Fearce St. James, a vendor resource fair, and bingo with prizes.
Attendees also will be able to go into the park, which is holding its Halloween Haunt.
“To already have an awesome, unique event like this to let our community know we celebrate all year long — I think it's just really awesome and exciting."Bradbury-Sullivan LGBT Community Center’s Communications Coordinator Braden Hudak
Bradbury-Sullivan Center’s Communications Coordinator Braden Hudak said he is looking forward to having another big Pride event after the success of Lehigh Valley Pride in August.
“To already have an awesome, unique event like this to let our community know we celebrate all year long — I think it's just really awesome and exciting,” Hudak said.
A group outing and fundraiser
Ghouls & Glitter Pride Night has not been publicized on Dorney Park’s website or social media. Dorney Public Relations and Communications Manager Ryan Eldredge said the event is being handled as a group outing and is not an official park event.
There are two ticket prices for the event. Option one is $39 and covers park admission, parking and access to the private pavilion. Option two is $54 and covers all those features as well as a meal voucher to use anywhere in the park.
Both ticket options include a $5 donation to Bradbury-Sullivan Center.
“It wasn't intended to necessarily be a fundraiser, so when Dorney [Park] gave us that option that just made it so much better for us. It'll help make sure that we're able to do it again next year.”Bradbury-Sullivan Center’s Communications Coordinator Braden Hudak
