BETHLEHEM, Pa. — A former boy band that's growing with its audience will swing through Musikfest's main Steel Stage in August, it was announced Tuesday.
Big Time Rush will perform at 7 p.m. Aug. 9, the festival announced.
Tickets, at $40 to $109, are available for ArtsQuest members today and will go on sale to the general public at 10 a.m. Friday, Feb. 23 at the ArtsQuest Center box office at 101 Founders Way, Bethlehem, at www.musikfest.org and 610-332-3378.
Big Time Rush became an overnight sensation in 2009 when the scripted TV show of the same name launched on Nickelodeon.
The group later released three full-length albums, starting with 2010's platinum "BTR," which hit No. 3 on the Albums chart and produced three hits: the gold singles "'Til I Forget About You" and "Worldwide," and the platinum "Boyfriend," featuring Snoop Dogg and New Boyz.
The group's 2011 album "Elevate" went gold and had the hit "Windows Down."
The group played a sold-out headline show at Allentown Fair in 2011.
Show concludes, and so does band
But as the show concluded in July 2013 and after four years of recording music and touring as a band, the group broke up.
The group has reunited and had a hit with an acoustic version of "Worldwide." It released a new album, "Another Life," in June.
Four seasons of the TV show were added to Netflix in March 2021 and have appeared in the Netflix "Top 10" trending titles.
The group kicked off its Forever Tour with new singles “Honey,” “Fall” and “Not Giving You Up.”
It also performed at the Latin Kids Choice Awards, iHeart Music Festival, Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade and the had its first pay-per-view event, The City Is Ours, a concert film capturing the band’s sold-out show at Madison Square Garden.
Musikfest previously announced four of what it has said it expects to be 11 headliners for this year's festival, scheduled to run Aug. 2-11, with an Aug. 1 preview night.
It was announced Tuesday that hard rock band Shinedown will perform on Aug. 4. Rapper Ludacris will play Saturday, Aug. 10, country music group Old Dominion will perform Tuesday, Aug. 6 and Southern rockers Lynyrd Skynyrd will play Wednesday, Aug. 7.
