Frampton, 73, got his start in the groups The Herd and Humble Pie before branching out on his own in 1971.
His fourth album, "Frampton Comes Alive!," became his biggest selling and brought hits like "Baby, I Love Your Way," "Show Me the Way" and an edited version of "Do You Feel Like We Do."
'Never Say Never'
In 2019, Frampton told fans he was retiring from touring after being diagnosed with inclusion body myositis, a degenerative muscular disease that affects his ability to play guitar.
Then, COVID-19 forced him to cancel the European leg of his tour, which he hadn't planned to reschedule.
In February, the rocker revealed to CREEM magazine what convinced him to go back on the road.
“I had resigned myself to the fact that, two years into the pandemic, maybe we shouldn’t even try and get a tour together,” he told CREEM.
“I’m very pleased to let you know that I am feeling strong and my fingers are still roaming the fretboard. Every note I play now has more meaning and soul."Musician Peter Frampton
But a visit to an ENT doctor changed his mind.
“He said, ‘Do it. The people want to see you.’ Then he said, and it was important the way he put it, ‘They’ll understand,'" Frampton told the outlet.
Of his current "Never Say Never" tour, Frampton said he's optimistic regarding his health.
“At the end of every Finale Tour show I did say, ‘Never Say Never’ and I am always full of hope for the impossible,” Frampton said in a news release.
“I’m very pleased to let you know that I am feeling strong and my fingers are still roaming the fretboard. Every note I play now has more meaning and soul. I love playing live and this fighter wants to stay in the ring for as long as he can. I’m so happy to be able to see you all one more time this summer."
