Top comedian, and Lehigh Valley favorite, to return as Allentown Fair headliner

Comedian Gabriel Iglesias will headline Allentown Fair.

ALLENTOWN, Pa. — A top comedian who has been a favorite of the Lehigh Valley will return to headline Allentown Fair, it was announced Friday.

Comedian Gabriel Iglesias, best known for his Comedy Central channel specials “I’m Not Fat … I’m Fluffy,” will headline the fair's grandstand stage at 7 p.m. Sept. 1, it was announced Monday.

Tickets, at $59 and $69, go on sale at 10 a.m. Friday, Jan. 31, on the fair's website or at its box office on Allentown Fairgrounds at 17th and Liberty streets.

Special box office hours will from 10 a.m.-2 p.m. Feb. 7. All show tickets include admission into the fair.

The fair also is offering discount ride tickets, half price fair admission, and prepaid premium concert parking.

Iglesias is the second headliner announced for the fair, which this year will run Aug. 28-Sept. 2.

Top country music singer Kane Brown previously was announced for Aug. 29.

Iglesias has played the Lehigh Valley frequently. He drew 4,000 people to a performance at Allentown Fair in 2018.

Iglesias also played Bethlehem's Musikfest festival in 2023, and has performed frequently in recent years at Wind Creek Event Center and has sold out nearly every show.

Iglesias, who has been a comedian for more than 25 years, has more than 2 billion views on YouTube and was the world's third-highest-grossing comedian in 2023, according to Billboard.

Star of TV specials and series

Iglesias from 2019-20 starred in and was executive producer of the Netflix comedy series “Mr. Iglesias,” in which he played a good-natured public high school teacher who works at his alma mater.

The show, which continues to be streamed, won best Primetime Comedy at The Imagen Awards, which recognizes positive portrayals of Latino actors/actresses in the entertainment industry.

In April, Iglesias reupped with Netflix for a new two-special deal. The first, "Gabriel Iglesias: Legend of Fluffy," Jan. 7 and reached a Top 10 spot on Netflix’s global most watched list.

Iglesias also has released four stand-up comedy specials on Netflix. The first was 2016's "I’m Sorry For What I Said When I Was Hungry," and the second "One Show Fits All," in 2019.

The third, "Stadium Fluffy" in 2022, was taped in front of a crowd of 55,000 fans at Dodger Stadium in Los Angeles, where Iglesias made history as the first comedian to perform at and sell out the largest MLB stadium in the United States.

He also is among the few comedians ever to sell out Madison Square Garden.

Iglesias also is a favorite on Comedy Central, had his own show, “Stand-Up Revolution,” that ran 2011-14 and still is shown on the channel.

The cable network’s premiere of his two‐night comedy special “Gabriel Iglesias: Aloha Fluffy” in 2013 reached 15 million viewers.
