BETHLEHEM, Pa. — A top Reggaeton music act has been announced as a headliner for the massive downtown and South Side Bethlehem music festival's 41st year.
Jowell & Randy will perform on Musikfest's main Steel Stage at 7 p.m. Aug. 4, it was announced Monday.
Grammy Award-nominated Puerto Rican singer-songwriter Luis Figueroa will be the supporting act.
Tickets, at $25 to $69, will go on sale to ArtsQuest members at 10 a.m. Tuesday, Feb. 27, and to the general public at 10 a.m. Friday, March 1 at the ArtsQuest Center box office at 101 Founders Way, Bethlehem, at www.musikfest.org and 610-332-3378.
The announcement is the sixth of what Musikfest has said will be 11 headline performers this year. Musikfest is scheduled to run Aug. 2-11, with an Aug. 1 preview night.
Jowell & Randy are a charting reggaeton duo from Puerto Rico who formed in the early-2000s. Their 2010 album "El Momento" peaked at No. 2 on the Top Latin Albums chart, while 2013's "Sobredoxis" placed at No. 10.
Jowell & Randy's most commercially successful single is 2010s "Loco,” which appeared on five Latin charts. Their most popular music video is the 2013 remix version of "Hey Mister,” which has nearly 100 million views.
They issued "Dile la Verdad" (featuring Manuel Turizo) in early 2019, followed by their sixth full-length effort, Viva el Perreo, in 2020.
Figueroa is a four-time Grammy-nominated Puerto Rican singer-songwriter and a rising star of Salsa.
His latest Grammy-nominated album is "Voy A Ti."
His first single, “La Luz” became his sixth consecutive Top 10 hit on the Billboard Tropical Airplay chart. His song “Bandido” crowned the chart for two consecutive weeks, the only salsa song in 2023 to top the Billboard charts.
“Bandido” also hit No. 1 in Puerto Rico for seven consecutive weeks. The album was nominated for Best Salsa Album at the 24th LatinGrammy Awards, Best Tropical Latin Album at the 66th Grammy Awards.
In recent years, Musikfest has consistently offered a Latin music headliner each year.
Last year, it offered top salsa act El Gran Combo. In 2022, it had Puerto Rican singer-songwriter Olga Tañón, and in 2020 had the Hector Rosado Orchestra.
Musikfest previously announced five headliners. Hard rock band Shinedown will perform on Aug. 4, country music group Old Dominion on Aug. 6 and Southern rockers Lynyrd Skynyrd on Aug. 7.
Reunited 2000s boy band Big Time Rush will perform on Aug. 9 andrapper Ludacris will play Saturday, Aug. 10.
