Ginning up another year: Popular cocktail event coming back to SteelStacks

Ginvitational: A Celebration of Cocktails will return to SteelStacks for a fourth year.

BETHLEHEM, Pa. — SteelStacks is getting ready to become a gin mill again.

ArtsQuest’s Ginvitational: A Celebration of Cocktails will return to SteelStacks for a fourth year on June 8 in Musikfest Cafe at ArtsQuest Center, it was announced.

The "spirited" event celebrates cocktails from all over the world, featuring bourbon, vodka, gin and more, and food from local restaurants.

Attendees can taste spirits from local, national and international distillers, including Ginvitational Premium Access Lounge Sponsor Edrington, which will featuring its Wyoming Whiskey.

Tickets, at $39 for general admission and $79 for VIP access, are on sale at the SteelStacks website or the box office at ArtsQuest Center at SteelStacks, 101 Founders Way. Ticket prices will increase $5 on June 2.

Lehigh Valley restaurants also will serve food to accompany the tasting journey. They include Meli, Colonial Pizza, Stoke, La Maya and more to be announced.

Meanwhile, the DJ collective NiteLiters LLC will spin classic vinyl tunes all afternoon.

The event is ages 21 and older. Hours will be 1 p.m. (11 a.m. for premium access) to 4 p.m.

Ticketholders can buy a voucher that can be redeemed at the County Seat Spirits table for one take-home. limited-edition 375ml bottle of gin.

VIP Ticketholders will get a VIP-only seminar, “Twist on Tiki Classics,” at 11 a.m. conducted by Edrington Wyoming Whiskey Area Manager Ryan Umholtz.

Also, exclusive early access to The Ginvitational from 12-1 p.m.,
exclusive access to the Edrington Wyoming Whiskey Lounge, a complimentary Brugal + Ginvitational-branded Cocktail Glass and Tiki VIP-exclusive spirits.

Seminars, special gin

Ginvitational attendees can learn to make fancy cocktails in educational seminars sponsored by the Campari Group, who will also host an Aperol Spritz table and a Negroni Bar.

Also, Jay Nee of Juniper and Grain, who has more than 20 twenty years of beverage hospitality experience and launched a recurring wine education night in the Lehigh Valley, will present seminars.

Additional educational seminars by some of the Lehigh Valley’s best mixologists — Hillary Carrigan, Tyler Chambers, Lucas Heckenberger, Neil Heimsoth, Melissa Lozada, Maximilian Ur and Aindrea Williams — will include:

  • “Cool Beans”: The ultimate espresso martini and other caffeinated cocktails
  • “Are You Mocking Me?”: A look at mocktail choices for those seeking an alternative to full proof cocktails
  • “The Walking Dead in a Hawaiian Shirt”: Zombies and other Tiki classics
  • “Jump in the Line (Shake, Señora)”: Ramos Gin Fizz shaker workout

New for this year's Ginvitational is an extremely limited-edition gin produced in collaboration with County Seat Spirits and the producers of The Ginvitational.

The new gin, produced with summer cocktails in mind, is citrus forward with an assortment of aromatics.
