Choco B., along with other local businesses, are hopping on to the viral "Dubai Chocolate" trend on TikTok ahead of Valentine's Day.

ALLENTOWN, Pa. β€” If you're looking for a trendy treat this Valentine's Day, look no further than downtown Allentown.

There, Mikael Khallouf and his family are gearing up for Valentine's Day at their shop, Choco B, next-door to Miller Symphony Hall.

In addition to its plethora of sweet treats available for purchase, the small business is changing it up and hopping on a TikTok trend.

"It's all about the trends."

The "Dubai Chocolate Cup" trend has gained significant attention on social media platforms such as TikTok and Instagram, inspiring both homemade recipes and commercial offerings.

The dessert draws inspiration from the "Dubai chocolate" bar, a creation by Fix Dessert Chocolatier in Dubai, United Arab Emirates.

The original bar features a milk chocolate shell filled with a sweet cream made from pistachios mixed with finely chopped kadayif (shredded filo dough) and tahini paste.

"It's all about the trends," said Khallouf, who with his parents owns the Choco B.

The shop, which opened in 2019, is a family-owned creperie serving both sweet and savory options, plus waffles, hot chocolate and milkshakes.

'A big thing for us'

In response to the viral sensation, many have crafted their own versions of the Dubai Chocolate Cup.

A popular homemade rendition includes fresh strawberries layered with chocolate ganache, crispy kataifi (shredded filo dough) tossed in pistachio butter and tahini, and topped with crunchy pistachios.

"When people try something new and they love it and come back, that's the big thing for us."

"It's been really great," Khallouf said. "A lot of people have been ordering it. People have both been coming in and calling.
