WILLIAMS TWP., Pa. — In the world of animal rescue, the term “second chance” is often used, but the sad reality is that sometimes animals find themselves in multiple homes throughout their lifetimes.

Bella was one of those animals.

When Bella arrived at our facility she was very sick and her owners could not afford to take her to the vet.

Fortunately, Bella found her way to us when she did. Shortly after her arrival, staff rushed her to an emergency vet appointment where it was discovered that she had a kidney stone the size of her bladder. Bella underwent surgery that saved her life.

Bella returned to us and began her recovery. A short time later, she was adopted. Unfortunately, Bella found herself back at the shelter. She was returned with an injury of unknown origin that left her unable to use her back legs. Bella was quickly examined by a veterinary specialist who provided treatment recommendations. We did not know if she would ever walk again.

Then two amazing things happened: Bella regained movement in her legs, and a medical foster family took her home. Bella quickly stole the heart of her foster dad and the rest was history.

Several months have passed since Bella found her forever home. Bella has completely healed and is still joined at the hip with her dad. She loves hanging out and playing in the yard with her fur siblings Sandy and Hurley.

Bella also pays it forward by helping new fosters who come to the house. A mom and her three kittens currently share their home with Bella. Each morning, Bella goes to their playpen as soon as they wake up, then alerts her mom so that they can come out and play with her.

Bella’s mom says that she is an angel and a blessing. If Bella could speak, we’re sure she’d say the same thing about her and her dad.

Bella’s journey to her forever home had a little detour, but we think it’s safe to say that in her case, the third home is the charm!
