BETHLEHEM, Pa. - September 15 marks the start of Hispanic Heritage Month, which celebrates the culture and contributions of the Hispanic community in the United States.
Four local organizations are coming together to kick-off the month in southside Bethlehem.
Northampton Community College, state Rep. Steve Samuelson (D-Northampton), and the Hispanic Center of the Lehigh Valley are organizing the outdoor event, which will be held at Touchstone Theatre on Wednesday.
Toni Fernandez, manager of Community Outreach at NCC, and one of the event’s collaborators, said she hopes the event will be informational and fun for all those who attend.
“This provides us an opportunity to be proud of who we are, and to recognize the vital contributions that we have made, and that’s what we want to impart in this celebration,” Fernandez said.
Attendees can expect cultural music, folkloric dancing, community resources and food.
The event will enforce masking, vendor tables will be socially distant and food will be distributed in sealed to-go containers.
