BETHLEHEM, Pa. - Four community supporters will be recognized for their work in making the Lehigh Valley a better place during the annual Good Neighbor Awards organized by Lehigh Valley Public Media.
The awards will be presented May 21, 2025, at the Univest Public Media Center on the SteelStacks campus in Bethlehem.
Recipients to be honored are:
- Judith A. Harris, an Allentown native and attorney with Norris McLaughlin.
- Darian and Yolanda Colbert, founders of the Cohesion Network — a nonprofit group in Allentown's 1st and 6th Wards and the Franklin Park neighborhood.
- Ilene Hochberg Wood, a designer and author who has served on numerous charitable boards.
This will be the ninth year for the awards program, which benefits the public media organization’s Good Neighbor Fund, established to support LVPM’s education outreach programs.
Lehigh Valley Public Media is comprised of PBS39, 91.3 WLVR and LehighValleyNews.com – all nonprofit media based on the SteelStacks campus.
It also organizes education programs across the Lehigh Valley, partnering with teachers and nearly two dozen school districts.
Joseph and Karen Walton are co-chairpersons of the 2025 Good Neighbor Awards Committee. Karen Walton was host of the PBS39 quiz show "Scholastic Scrimmage" for 20 years.
This season's "Scholastic Scrimmage" marks the show's 50th anniversary.
The Good Neighbor Awards are timed to coincide with Kindness Day, which was inspired by Fred Rogers and his long-running PBS show “Mister Rogers’ Neighborhood.” Rogers used 1-4-3 as another way of saying “I love you,” with the numbers representing the numbers of the letters in each word. May 23 is the 143rd day of the year.
