ALLENTOWN, Pa. — It’s a journey to happily-ever-after for The Sanctuary at Haafsville’s newest rescue — a pig named Snoop Hogg.
Snoop Hogg, a pig found wandering the streets of Philadelphia, was rescued after he was discovered to have severe mange and an eye issue.
He originally was taken to ACCT (Animal Care and Control Team, Philadelphia), but when all the pig rescues were full, he was transferred to The Sanctuary at Haafsville, a non-profit animal rescue facility in Breinigsville, for rehabilitation.
Lucky for him, a very special local sports team stepped up to help cover medical expenses.
The Lehigh Valley IronPigs donated $750 to the animal rescue to give Snoop Hog a new lease on life.
According to the rescue’s website, Snoop Hogg is working on behavioral issues as well as healing his physical wounds — severe mange and an eye issue.
Additionally, he has been trained to wear a harness and has been potty trained, according to the IronPigs.
The IronPigs said in a news release that when Snoop Hogg was found, it was believed he may have been used as bait for dog fighting rings.
Snoop Hogg is 6 months old.
The Sanctuary at Haafsville posted on its Facebook about the donation.
“We wanted to give a huge shout out to The Lehigh Valley IronPigs," the post reads. "They heard about our buddy Snoop Hogg and decided to pay his entire vet bills!!!
"We cannot thank them enough. Donations like this enable us to help dogs with medical conditions, seniors and yes sometimes sick pigs.
"Snoop loved being the center of attention and enjoyed all the extra treats he received. All in all a good day for our resident pig.”
Snoop Hogg is available for adoption through the rescue. You can apply for adoption via email at dogadoptions@thesantuarypa.org.
