BETHLEHEM, Pa. — The Northampton County District Attorney's Office and city police have obtained a warrant for the arrest of a teenager in connection with a Thursday night shooting.
Gianni Santini, 17, is wanted in connected with the shooting that took place at at 9:27 p.m. in the 1900 block of Butztown Road, near Governor Wolf Elementary School, authorities said.
Officers summoned for reports of a shooting found a man with a gunshot wound. He was taken by ambulance to the hospital with life-threatening injuries, according to the release.
Police said Santini fled on foot and an arrest warrant was expected to be issued.
"The factual circumstances surrounding the shooting are known to police and the shooting was not a random act," District Attorney Stephen G. Baratta said in a release.
Santini is charged with attempted homicide, aggravated assault and robbery, as well as firearms and weapons offenses.
The nature of the charges and the use of a deadly weapon mean Santini will be charged as an adult, Baratta said.
The shooting did not involve the school, but officials decided the school would be closed today while police investigate, according to a statement on the Bethlehem Area School District website.
The investigation remains active, the DA said.
