"Mad Dogs Macungie was an amazing adventure for Chris and me, and now it’s time for us to say goodbye," Melissa Moyer said in a Facebook post initially announcing the closure.

Mad Dogs is known in the area for its experimental hot dog toppings in specialized combinations, including its "The Nutty Professor" dog with bacon, mayo, peanut butter and caramelized onion, while also boasting more "normal" dogs alongside.

The restaurant will be open from noon to 8 p.m. Friday and Saturday for what current owners Chris and Melissa Moyer say will be a chance to see them working there one last time.
