EASTON, Pa. — Easton Area School Board selected familiar faces for its president and vice president Tuesday.
Former Vice President Jodi Hess stepped up to take the role of president, succeeding Meg Sayago, and Nekisha Robertson was appointed vice president.
Hess had previously served as president, and Robertson had served as vice president.
“So we’re familiar with it,” Hess said.
Hess has been on the board from 2007-11, and 2015 to the present. Outside her position with the board, she works as a customer support specialist for a machine shop.
“Many moons ago, when my kids were in school, I questioned something about math problems, and my husband suggested that if I wanted to make a change, get involved. That’s how it all started.”Jodi Hess

Robertson is going on her fourth year serving on the board. Outside her role on the board, she describes herself as a mother and a consultant.
“I joined the Diversity Alliance during 2020, and from there, I met some great people who are part of the district, and learned more about the board and was encouraged to run," Robertson said.
"That’s what got me here.”
Defining the leading roles
The pair said reinforcing the working relationships between board members and strengthening communication were top priorities.
“We had sort of talked about it a little bit, and it’s just a lot of having good communication, mentoring newer board members, focusing on some of the policies and procedures that we doing," Hess said.
"It’s about maintaining the culture that we have on the board, and hopefully that culture will permeate throughout the district.”Easton Area School Board Vice President Nekisha Robertson
"And just being able to keep the group cohesive and build very good relationship among everybody."
Robertson concurred, and said another point of interest was defining their leading roles.
“I think this year, the focus is figuring out what we want the president and vice president roles to look like, not only for this year, but moving forward,” Robertson said.
“Also, it’s about maintaining the culture that we have on the board, and hopefully that culture will permeate throughout the district.”
Hess and Robertson are looking to lead the board into a busy new year, tackling topics such as the construction of the new high school.
Superintendent Tracy Piazza congratulated the two at the top of the normal board meeting.
“We want to congratulate Jodi and Nekisha back for your new roles, and look forward to working with you as well,” Piazza said.
