EASTON, Pa. — Easton Farmers’ Market is wrapping up its 2024 run, but don’t worry, they’ll be back at it after a brief holiday break.

The market will host its final day of 2024 from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Saturday, Dec. 21 at Scott Park on Larry Holmes Drive. Bundle up if you’re in the market for some fresh, local eats and gifts for the holidays, straight out of the Lehigh Valley.

Organizers for the market thanked Eastonians and other visitors for “a vibrant season, filled with amazing food and community.”

“Come out this Saturday from 9-1 for those beautiful Easton riverfront views, last-minute holiday gifts, and to thank a farmer. Your family and friends will be thrilled to receive fresh rutabaga in their stockings this year, knowing they’re supporting their local farmers’ market!” a post on the Easton Farmers’ Market Facebook page reads.

Visitors can stock up for the holidays, enjoy some tunes from the Galena Brass Band, and enter to win a Martin D10-E guitar via a raffle, which will take place at the emcee booth at noon.

Should you need any recommendations for your big meal, the Easton Farmers’ Market recommends "a bowl of olives from Jersey Pickles, a sourdough loaf from Apple Ridge Farm, fresh cultured butter from The Farmstead Table, cookies from Mia & Maddie’s Bakery, produce from all of our farmers, and a ham from Breakaway Farms."

If you happen to rely on the market to score the best produce, meats, baked goods and more, two “Mini Pop-up Farmers’ Markets” will run from 10 a.m. to noon on Dec. 28 and Jan. 4 at the Air Products Plaza behind the Easton Public Market, with select EFM vendors.

The market returns with its Winter Edition on Saturday, Jan. 11, from 10 a.m. to noon, with at least 20 vendors coming out to the 300 block of Northampton Street in front of Easton Public Market.

The winter season of the market will continue every Saturday morning through April 2025.

Easton Farmers’ Market celebrated its 272nd anniversary this past year, cementing its status as America’s oldest continuously open market.

Sustainability initiatives were a key feature for the market’s 2024 season, with support for vendors using sustainable packaging or returnable jar programs, which were marked with green ribbons.

In a longer statement this week, the EFM thanked the community “for another amazing season full of beautiful crops, riverfront views, music, treats, and community.”

“For farms and small businesses, it’s a critical time to show your support. While shopping locally might not be as convenient as a few clicks online, we can assure you that getting to know each other in community spaces is vastly more enriching – and flavorful,” the post reads.

“’Tis the season to give rutabagas a try. Indulge in those cupcakes you’ve been eyeing. Add some locally grown spices to your spice rack. Your family, friends, community and tastebuds will thank you for it.”
