PALMER TWP. — More than 1,000 electricity customers in the Easton area were without power Monday morning amid high winds.
Utility companies reported scattered but not widespread outages across the Lehigh Valley.
The exception was in the Easton area, where Met-Ed reported nearly 650 customers without power in Palmer Township; 400 in Williams Township; and 80 in Wilson Borough.
Overall, Met-Ed reported almost 1,500 outages in Northampton County and 25 in Lehigh County as of 11:30 a.m.
PPL Electric Utilities reported 170 outages in Lehigh County – all but one of them in Upper Saucon Township – and 93 in Northampton County, most of them in Plainfield Township.
It’s expected to be a busy day for power crews with a wind advisory in place until 8 p.m., northwest winds of 20 to 30 mph and gusts up to 55 mph.
