Easton Public Market has announced a new vendor, Mangia Carne, is headed their way soon. The location will offer fresh butchered meats and Italian cuisine.

EASTON, Pa. — A mashup of old-world butchery and modern Italian flavors is headed to Easton Public Market.

Mangia Carne, backed by Citera Family Meat Market in Stroudsburg, will pair with celebrity chef Luca Manfé to offer freshly butchered, high-quality meats, artisan sandwiches, freshly prepared foods and imported Italian groceries.

Butcher Mark Citera, owner of the Stroudsburg establishment, will lead the charge with Manfé, a celebrated Italian chef who won FOX-TV cooking competition show "MasterChef" in 2013.

“We’re excited to bring our passion for fine meats and authentic Italian cuisine to Easton. With Luca’s culinary expertise and our deep-rooted knowledge of butchery, we’re creating something truly special for the community.”

According to a release from the Greater Easton Development Partnership, the shop will serve as an extension of Citera Family Meat Market, and pay homage to its longstanding tradition of quality butchery.

“We’re excited to bring our passion for fine meats and authentic Italian cuisine to Easton,” Citera said. “With Luca’s culinary expertise and our deep-rooted knowledge of butchery, we’re creating something truly special for the community.”

Manfé stated that he has bought meat from Citera for years for his catering business and always found the quality to be “outstanding.”

“I’m excited to bring incredible food to the Easton Public Market, with a menu that ranges from the classic sandwiches you’d expect to more modern, sophisticated flavors."

“But what truly sets him apart is his dedication to customer service and his attention to detail, which is why I knew he was the right partner for this venture,” Manfé said.

“I’m excited to bring incredible food to the Easton Public Market, with a menu that ranges from the classic sandwiches you’d expect to more modern, sophisticated flavors.

"We’re delivering authentic Italian flavors, crafted with the best ingredients, right here in Easton."

'An inspired menu'

Citera is counting on Manfé, who is known for his dedication to Italian flavors and innovative cooking, to help craft “an inspired menu of made-to-order paninis, signature sandwiches, and prepared Italian specialties like lasagna, meatballs and seasonal salads.”

Citera’s daughter Jessica Plante will join the pair in the new venture, as a general manager.

On the butcher’s side, the location promises a “curated selection of premium cuts of beef, pork, lamb and poultry, along with house-made sausages and specialty meats.”

The market also will carry a variety of high-end imported Italian grocery items.

Guests can expect rotating weekly specials and behind-the-scenes culinary content, showcasing the art of Italian cooking and butchery.

An official opening date has not been announced. You can get updates from the Mangia Carne Instagram account, and visit the Easton Public Market website for more information.
