EASTON, Pa. — Easton and Wilson Borough will see over $200,000 in state funding applied to two substantial projects in their respective areas.
Senator Lisa Boscola confirmed Tuesday that $441,085 had been awarded for trails, parks, recreation and watershed projects in the 19th Senatorial District via the Act 13 Marcellus Legacy Fund Grant Program, with $225,000 going toward initiatives in Wilson Borough and Easton.
$175,000 will go toward Skyline Investment Group Easton, LLC for the Dixie Cup site regional bike trail and public space connector.
Those funds will help facilitate features for the apartment complex's public spaces, which were promised to residents throughout the developer's presentations in 2024.
Another $50,000 will go to the City of Easton for the Nesquehoning Memorial Park.

“Nearly half a million dollars in state funding through the Marcellus Legacy Fund will improve the quality of life in our communities through increased recreational opportunities and protecting our environment,” Boscola said.

The grants were approved on Jan. 28 by the state’s Commonwealth Financing Authority Board in Harrisburg. Funding through the Marcellus Legacy Fund uses revenue generated through Act 13 of 2021, which imposes an impact fee on the state’s unconventional natural gas wells.
Speaking on the Nesquehoning Memorial Park project, Mayor Sal Panto Jr. said “We’re very happy about that.”
“It won’t cover the whole park, which we’re dedicating to the African American community, but it will cover part of it. It’s helpful, very helpful,” Panto said, adding the city would move into the design stage now that they had secured funding for the project.
