The Lehigh Valley post office where bandits are stealing checks from the mail

The Palmer branch of the Easton Post Office on Greenwood Avenue in Palmer Township. Police said checks have been stolen from the U.S. Postal Service drive-up dropbox along Greenwood Avenue.

PALMER TWP., Pa. – Police are warning folks not to deposit mail in the U.S. Postal Service dropbox outside the Palmer branch of the Easton Post Office.

Personal and business checks have been stolen from the drive-up dropbox along Greenwood Avenue, according to police.

“We have taken numerous reports of mail being stolen and checks being compromised from the United States Postal Service outside mail drop box located at 650 S. Greenwood Ave.,” the police department said Thursday night in a statement.

Authorities advise that any mail containing checks be dropped off inside the post office at the location.

Bandits have hit the roadside dropboxes before.
