The weather on Saturday, Oct. 5 was perfect for taking a stroll through Easton Garlic Fest.

EASTON, Pa. — A Talking Heads tribute band that began in the Lehigh Valley and now tours nationally and internationally will headline this year's Easton Garlic Fest.

The show will be a preview of sorts, held Oct. 3 — the evening before the festival actually begins.

Start Making Sense, which performs the iconic new wave band's music with singer Jon Braun assuming the role of singer/frontman David Byrne, will kick off Garlic Fest, set for Oct. 4-5 in Downtown Easton.

Time and location of the show have not been released. The festival's main stage last year was on North Third Street between Spring Garden Street and Centre Square.

Online ticket sales for the show are scheduled to begin soon.

The free-admission festival has not announced the show nor its musical lineup, but the performance is on online concert listings.

The festival has not updated its performance schedule from last year on its website.

Garlic Fest, which bills itself as "the biggest and best garlic party of the Mid-Atlantic," always is held 10 a.m.-6 p.m. the first weekend of October in Centre Square.

It says on the website that it's accepting vendor applications online only.

About Start Making Sense, Garlic Fest

Stop Making Sense began its career performing at The Funhouse in Bethlehem and now has done its tribute show for more than 15 years.

In January and February, it toured Australia, and more recently performed in New York and Colorado and has upcoming shows in Virginia, California and Las Vegas.

It will play a paid-ticket show at Stroudsburg's Sherman Theatre on June 6.

This year will be the 22nd for Garlic Fest, which last year drew more than 130 vendors offering up fresh bulbs, savory dishes, and even some sweets and beer featuring the pungent flavor of garlic.

The headliner for last year's festival was percussionist Tito Puente Jr., son of the legendary Latin Jazz performer Tito Puente.

It also offered four cookoff events spread over two days on the Stinkin’ Culinary Stage in Centre Square.
