Lehigh Valley Political Pulse | February 11, 2025

Host Tom Shortell is joined by Chris Borick, Director of Muhlenberg College's Institute of Public Opinion, to discuss the quality of life and local roads and the "public concern, public anger and public demand for transportation."

BETHLEHEM, Pa. — What's happening in politics this week in the Lehigh Valley?

Lehigh Valley Political Pulse aims to answer that question through a local and national lens.

Host Tom Shortell, WLVR and LehighValleyNews.com politics reporter, is joined by Chris Borick, Director of Muhlenberg College's Institute of Public Opinion, to discuss politics at the local, state and national levels. They unpack how politics works — or doesn’t work — and what it all means for you.

It’s said that all politics is local — and things don’t get much more local than your morning commute.

For years, Borick has tracked public opinion in the Lehigh Valley about quality of life and local roads. The two talk about some of the factors that play into traffic congestion and how residents feel about the issue.

They also discuss the Lehigh Valley’s outrage over warehouses leading to busier roads and delve into why unpopular developments often get the green light.
