Lehigh Valley Political Pulse | Jan. 14, 2025

In this week's episode, Borick and Shortell talk about the impending second inauguration of Donald J. Trump.

BETHLEHEM, Pa. — Every Tuesday, Chris Borick, director of the Muhlenberg College Institute of Public Opinion, sits down with LehighValleyNews.com politics reporter Tom Shortell for Lehigh Valley Political Pulse on WLVR.

They discuss the latest trends emerging from science-based polls to break down local, state and national campaigns and issues.

In this week's episode, Borick and Shortell talk about the impending second inauguration of Donald J. Trump, which is a week away.

Trump will come into office with sweeping proposals for tax cuts, energy production and border security.

But Trump is also at his term limit. Anything he fails to accomplish can’t be addressed in a future term, Shortell said, while recognizing Republicans have full control of Congress and a super majority on the Supreme Court.

“Certainly, Trump’s got an opening that any president would be excited about,” Borick said of the “aligned party control” in Washington.

“It’s certainly a benefit to president-elect Trump,” Borick said.
