BETHLEHEM, Pa. — Every Tuesday, Chris Borick, director of the Muhlenberg College Institute of Public Opinion, sits down with LehighValleyNews.com politics reporter Tom Shortell for Lehigh Valley Political Pulse on WLVR.
They discuss the latest trends emerging from science-based polls to break down local, state and national campaigns and issues.
This week, Shortell and Borick discuss what polls are suggesting for the state's seventh congressional district race.
Muhlenberg College Institute of Public Opinion’s poll found U.S. Rep. Susan Wild leading Republican candidate Ryan Mackenzie by six points, which Shortell acknowledged is “also the margin of error.”
"Wild said that this was in line with what their internal polls were seeing," Shortell said. "Mackenzie said that their polls had it closer, but that there’s a six-point margin of error.”
Borick said he thinks voters should expect to see a "tight, tight race" between the two heading into Election Day.
Borick also talked about how nationwide campaign efforts will impact such a contested local race in Pennsylvania.
“The challenge is right now, the environment we’re living in," Borick said. The crowded electoral space from presidential to senate, to statehouse races, townhouse races. Everyone’s trying to get the attention of voters right now.”
