BETHLEHEM, Pa. — Every Tuesday, Chris Borick, director of the Muhlenberg College Institute of Public Opinion, sits down with LehighValleyNews.com politics reporter Tom Shortell for Lehigh Valley Political Pulse on WLVR.
They discuss the latest trends emerging from science-based polls to break down local, state and national campaigns and issues.
This week the two discuss voting accuracy and American attitudes and beliefs towards elections in recent years, compared to the past, with relation to a recent statewide survey.
Borick said right now “we see a considerable amount of distrust” surrounding election systems.
“I was looking at your last survey, the statewide Pennsylvania survey and it showed that not only are people concerned about the system and the process itself, but they’re concerned about bad actors, often foreign actors," Shortell said to Borick. "... Is trust returning, is it getting worse?”
Borick said the political climate today is “fairly similar” to four years ago, but “it looks probably more like it did in late 2020 than it did in early 2020,” especially in relation to Pennsylvanians' perception of mail-in ballots.
Political Pulse airs throughout the day Tuesdays on 91.3 WLVR. You can listen to an extended version of the conversation here, by clicking the listen button above.
