"PA-7 Primary," a 90-minute show that includes one-on-one interviews with each of the three Republican candidates seeking the party's nomination for Congress in Pennsylvania's 7th Congressional District, will air on PBS39 at 6 p.m. Tuesday, April 16, 2024.

BETHLEHEM, Pa. - Pennsylvania’s 7th Congressional District is among the most competitive in the nation.

In the primary election on April 23, three Republican candidates are seeking the party’s nomination for the right to contest U.S. Rep. Susan Wild, D-Lehigh Valley, in the November general election. Wild is seeking a fourth term.

On Tuesday night at 6, PBS39 will air a 90-minute program with one-on-one interviews of the three Republicans: Kevin Dellicker, Ryan Mackenzie and Maria Montero.

LehighValleyNews.com politics reporter Tom Shortellconducted the interviews at the Univest Public Media Center in Bethlehem. They covered a range of issues, including the economy, foreign affairs, immigration and reproductive rights.

The 7th Congressional District covers all of Carbon, Lehigh and Northampton counties plus a sliver of Monroe County. With nearly equal numbers of registered Democratic and Republican voters, the district is considered a political battleground – control of PA-7 is a key to the parties' efforts to hold a majority in Washington.

Watch at 6 p.m. Tuesday, April 16, on PBS39. You can find more about the candidates and their policy positions in a five-part series published on LehighValleyNews.com:
