BREINIGSVILLE, Pa. — Please don’t judge a book by it’s cover, especially in a shelter environment, because you just might miss out on an amazing story with an amazing dog.
Diesel is a handsome 2-year-old Pointer mix who originally came to our shelter as a local stray back in January 2022.
Abandoned in a local Wawa parking lot, this poor boy has been waiting so long for a home and a new family to call his own.
He is one of those dogs who continues to get passed over on adoption days. He's simply a dog with a tough name who is — honestly — just a big baby. He enjoys playtime with his toys, walks, runs, belly rubs, hugs, kisses, love and attention.
Diesel is a smart boy and already knows some basic commands.
He is looking for a home with someone who is home more often than not, as he does not like to be crated or confined for long periods of time. He may do better as an only dog in a home, although we would be open to setting up a meet with another dog if a family seems to be a potential match for him. No cats for this boy, and older, dog-savvy children are preferred too.
Diesel has been an amazing houseguest at his various sleepovers.
He is a completely different dog once out of his kennel, and able to just relax and not be that shelter dog for a day or two.
He loves car rides and going on hikes, walks, and even a run. He is also housebroken and the most loyal dog.
Diesel forms a very strong bond with people, so it will be important that he goes to a home where each member of the family is willing to be an active participant in caring for him.
Diesel is a very special boy here at our shelter, who is loved by so many and we hope that someone out there will give him the chance he so much deserves.
Come visit him at The Sanctuary at Haafsville, 901 Nestle Way, Breinigsville, between 10 a.m. and 2 p.m. on Saturdays.
