UPPER MACUNGIE TWP., Pa. — It's the time of year when many reflect on health and try to make decisions to improve it.

Organizers of a free event, the Elevate Your Health and Wellness Expo, aim to explore those themes.

The expo, a benefit for KidsPeace, will take place at the Delta by Marriott, 7736 Adrienne Drive, from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Saturday, Jan. 11.

Lisa MacDonald, founder of Imperfection is Beautiful, and Seth Rubin, cofounder of Network Lehigh Valley, are organizing the event.

Modeling for mental health

MacDonald is the author of the bilingual book "Painting the Path of My Life in English" (or "Pintando el Camino de Mi Vida").

"Part of my mission is to help others learn about their imperfections and accept their imperfections and to understand that challenges that we go through is a part of life."

On Saturday, MacDonald will showcase both her wearable designs and paintings during a fashion show.

Her pieces contain "powerful" messages of self-care and mental health.

She founded the organization Imperfection is Beautiful in 2017 as a way to give back to the community through art.

She teaches classes and workshops and also offers life coaching.

MacDonald said she started the business after coming to terms with her own-self acceptance of her art.

Lisa MacDonald will feature her artwork at a fashion show that will occur at Elevate Your Health and Wellness Expo on Jan. 11, 2025. Her artwork and wearable fashion is centered around themes of self-care and mental health.

"I learned that a lot of the mistakes and imperfections I've found in my works of art were great lessons for me to learn how to accept my imperfections and instead to make those mistakes work for me in my life," she said.

"So part of my mission is to help others learn about their imperfections and accept their imperfections — to understand the challenges that we go through is a part of life."

Supporting KidsPeace

To organize the event MacDonald and Rubin reached out to staff at KidsPeace, which will have a vendor table on Saturday, along with 40 other individuals and organizations.

In addition, there will be raffle baskets for sale and proceeds will be donated to the foundation based in Schnecksville.

Vendors, guest talks

The family-friendly event will feature interactive demos and activities for kids including face-painting and arts and crafts.

There will also be fitness demos and motivational presentations from guest speakers.

Among those scheduled to appear are life coach Westley Morris, financial adviser Jonathan Emery, photographer Mike Robinson, and life coach Lisa King.

Additionally, staff from Uforia Sauna, MedTherapy Solutions, United Federal Credit Union, Dreamcatcher Career Coaching, Symptom Detective, Achieve Balance4u, A Third Eye Energy Arts, WellBalanced Healthcare, and Vitality Natural HealthCare Center will be on hand for the event.
