WASHINGTON TWP., Lehigh County, Pa. — A motorcyclist was killed early Tuesday when he collided with a deer on Mountain Road in the township, state police said.

It happened at 5:50 a.m. in the 4800 block of Mountain Road, between Furnace and Jones roads.

State police identified the victim as a 64-year-old from Germansville but did not immediately release his name. He was operating a 2004 Harley-Davidson, they said.

That stretch of Mountain Road was closed during the investigation and reopened about 8:30 a.m., state police said.

Assisting were the state police Troop M forensic services unit, the Lehigh County Coroner’s Office, Slatedale Fire Department and Northern Valley Emergency Medical Services.
