State police are investigating a fatal crash that occurred Tuesday afternoon in North Whitehall Township.

NORTH WHITEHALL TOWNSHIP, Pa. — A township man was killed in a crash Tuesday afternoon, the Lehigh County Coroner’s Office said.

The crash occurred about 2 p.m. in the 2700 block of Valley Road.

According to a release, David Brown, 68, was the operator of a dump truck that struck an embankment.

Brown died at the scene. An autopsy will be completed Thursday to determine the cause of death, Lehigh County Coroner Dan Buglio said.

In addition to the coroner's office, troopers from the State Police-Bethlehem also are investigating.

A number of incidents this month

Brown’s death is the latest in a string of fatal or serious crashes in the area.

On Monday, the Lehigh County District Attorney's Office released updates on investigations, while asking for the public's help for a number of those incidents.

A release from the office acknowledged that four serious crashes occurred recently, but two fatal ones that happened on Oct. 4 and Oct. 5 "were determined to be not criminal as the investigation revealed the victims were at fault."

"We are also seeking the public’s help to come forward with information about these crashes," District Attorney Gavin Holihan said in the release.

The other two — on Sunday and Friday — still are being investigated.

“We are releasing these details to make the public aware of the serious consequences that occur when someone is driving recklessly or speeding," Holihan said.

"Not only do they put themselves at risk, but they endanger the lives of others not engaging in risky behavior."
