Woman dies after car hits tree on Route 309, coroner says

State police from Troop M Bethlehem are investigating a fatal crash on Route 309.

HEIDELBERG TOWNSHIP, LEHIGH COUNTY, Pa. — A Northampton County resident died from injuries sustained when her car hit a tree Wednesday afternoon on Route 309, the Lehigh County coroner said.

The crash happened in the 5000 block at 3:38 p.m., according to a news release.

Raquel M. Perez, 26, of Wilson Borough, was the operator of a car that left the road and struck a tree, the release said.

Perez died from multiple traumatic injuries in the emergency department at Lehigh Valley Hospital-Cedar Crest.

In addition to the coroner’s office, members of Pennsylvania State Police Troop M, based in Bethlehem, also are investigating.

It’s at least the third fatal crash in Lehigh County this week.

Around 5:20 a.m. Wednesday,troopers were dispatched to the area of Route 100 in the vicinity of Windy Road for the report of a motorcycle crash, according to a release.

Police said 57-year-old Donald Guldin, of Lower Macungie, was operating a 2022 Harley Davidson motorcycle and suffered fatal injuries after hitting a deer.

A motorcyclist also died early Tuesday when he collided with a deer on Mountain Road in Washington Township.

That driver was identified as Frederick Brauchle III, 64, of Heidelberg Township, Lehigh County.
