ALLENTOWN, Pa. — Heads up, bookworms! Barnes & Noble will return with a temporary store at Lehigh Valley Mall.
- Barnes & Noble is set to open a temporary store at Lehigh Valley Mall, adjacent to JC Penney on the lower level
- The location will occupy the space previously held by Track 23 & Modell's
- The original Barnes & Noble location, undergoing renovations, is scheduled to reopen in Spring 2024
The national bookstore chain announced on Facebook that the temporary location is going to open on Wednesday, Aug. 23, next to the JC Penney department store on the mall's lower level.
It is the space previously filled by Track 23 & Modell's, according to the bookstore.
The original Barnes & Noble location is undergoing renovations, mall public relations spokeswoman Amber Wong said. It plans to reopen in spring.
“The renovated shop will showcase the highly lauded bookstore design seen in the most recent Barnes & Noble store openings, housing all the best books, toys, games, and gifts that customers have come to expect from the nation’s premier bookseller,” the bookstore chain said in a release.

Along with the design changes, the new bookstore also will feature a revamped B&N Cafe, the bookstore’s coffee place serving Starbucks and Cheesecake Factory products, vice president of Stores Amy Fitzgerald said.

“It’s thrilling to be a part of redesigning the Barnes & Noble bookstore I’ve called my own,” Store Manager Heidi Klein said.
“Better still, we have this very convenient temporary location right around the corner, enabling us to continue to serve our loyal customers while we prepare to welcome them back into our newly beautified bookstore.”
With strong sales and the opening of many new stores across the country, Barnes & Noble said it expects to open more than 30 new locations nationwide in 2023.
