Charting reggae bands coming to Musikfest Cafe at ArtsQuest

Charting reggae band Tropidelic will play Musikfest Cafe at ArtsQuest Center in Bethlehem on June 11.

BETHLEHEM, Pa. — A band that has had two Top 5 albums on Billboard's reggae chart will perform at Musikfest Cafe at ArtsQuest Center, it has been announced.

Tropidelic, whose 2017 disc "Heavy is the Head" hit No. 3 on that chart and whose 2019 disc "Here in the Heights" hit No. 2, will perform at 8 p.m. June 11.

Also on the bill will be reggae-rock band Ballyhoo!, who like Tropidelic played the nationwide Warped Tour and saw its 2013 album "Pineapple Grenade" break Billboard's Top 200.

Reggae-punk band Authority Zero, which has had six albums on Billboard's Heatseekers chart, will open the show.

Tropidelic, which blends reggae with rock, hip-hop and funk, formed in 2006 and has released eight full albums and three EPs. Its latest disc was last year's album "Royal Grove."

Since 2017, Tropidelic has held its own annual grassroots music festival, The Freakstomp Music Festival, in Thornville, Ohio.

Ballyhoo! and Authority Zero

Ballyhoo! will observe 30 years as a band in July and has released nine studio albums and six EPs. its latest was 2023's album "Shellshock."

Authority Zero since forming in 1994 has released seven albums to date, two DVDs and nine singles.

Its 2002 debut album "A Passage in Time" hit No. 30 on the Heatseekers chart. Its 2010 album "Stories of Survival" made it to No. 5 on the chart, and 2017's "Broadcasting to the Nations" to No. 2.

Its latest disc was 2021's "Ollie Ollie Oxen Free." It also has released four live acoustic discs.

ArtsQuest offers a yearly reggae festival, One Earth ReggaeFest, which this year will be on July 5. The lineup for that event has not been announced, and tickets are not yet available.
