UPPER MACUNGIE TWP., Pa. — A four-vehicle crash shuttered Interstate 78 eastbound in the township for more than six hours Wednesday.
The highway was reopened just before 2 p.m.
At 6:12 a.m., Trooper Nathan Branosky said on X (formerly Twitter) that all lanes were blocked at mile marker 49.0 on I-78 in Lehigh County.
Reached by phone, Branosky confirmed the crash involved three tractor-trailers and a sport utility vehicle. He said a significant fuel spill occurred during the crash, and all three trucks were fully loaded.

Traffic detoured onto Route 863, and delays stretched for miles.
There were no serious injuries in the crash, Branosky said.
