BETHLEHEM, Pa. — As Halloween approaches, municipalities throughout the Lehigh Valley celebrate across much of the month of October.
This year, the holiday falls on Thursday, Oct. 31, but some festivities begin earlier.
Find a list below of where and when Halloween-themed parades and trick-or-treat nights occur around the area.
Parades
Sunday, Oct. 13
Coopersburg Borough's Halloween parade will take place from 3 to 4:30 p.m., beginning at 5 N Main Street. The rain date is the following Sunday.
Wednesday, Oct. 16
The Vera Cruz Halloween Parade will begin at 6:30 p.m. at Mystic Chain Park. Movies will begin at 7 p.m. The parade's rain date is the following day.
Thursday, Oct. 17
Bangor Borough will hold a Halloween parade at 7 p.m.
Saturday, Oct. 19
The Emmaus Halloween parade will begin at 7 p.m. The parade route will begin at Keystone and Ridge Streets and head west. A full parade route map can be found on the parade's website.
The parade rain date is Sunday, Oct. 20 at 6:30 p.m.
Nazareth Borough is also holding its parade Saturday at 1 p.m. The parade will begin at the intersection of Belvidere and Liberty streets.
Sunday, Oct. 20
Hellertown Borough will hold its parade at 2 p.m. The theme is fall harvest.
Thursday, Oct. 24
Whitehall Township's annual Halloween parade will kick off at 7 p.m.
The parade route is as follows, according to a parade flyer from the township:
"The parade will pass in front of the Whitehall High School, continue straight across Whitehall Way around the new Gockley Elementary; crossing over Zephyr Boulevard passing the Steckel Elementary School, Middle School and Zephyr Elementary School; turning left onto Campus Drive; ending at the Schadt Avenue Park & Playground. (Participants can exit east or west on Schadt Avenue if returning to the Whitehall High School Parking Lot for transportation)."
Saturday, Oct. 26
The Alburtis Halloween parade and festival will take place on Oct. 26 with a rain date the following day. The parade begins at 7 p.m.
According to a flyer from the Alburtis Area Community Center, the parade route begins at Alburtis Elementary School. The Fall Festival begins earlier that day, with wristbands available for purchase at $5 each.
The City of Allentown will also hold its Halloween parade the same day from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.
Northampton Borough's parade will take place from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.
Trick-or-Treat
Friday, Oct. 18
Upper Macungie Township's trunk-or-treat trail will begin at 5:30 p.m. at Lone Lane Park (30 Lone Lane, Allentown). At 7 p.m., a movie in the park will follow, showing Despicable Me 4, but the trick-or-treat line will remain open for the duration of the movie, the township's event webpage says.
Sunday, Oct. 20
Macungie Memorial Park is hosting a trick-or-treat in the park from 1 to 5 p.m. The event will feature a costume contest, vendors, food trucks, music, a car show, games and bounce houses.
Friday, Oct. 25
Bethlehem Township, Hanover Township, City of Allentown, City of Bethlehem, East Allen Township, Emmaus Borough, Lehigh Township, Salisbury Township, and South Whitehall Township share the same trick-or-treat night. It will take place from 6 to 8 p.m.
The rain date for Lehigh Township's trick-or-treat is Saturday, Oct. 26 from 5 to 7 p.m.
Chapman Borough, 6 to 7 p.m.
Forks Township is also holding a trunk-or-treat from 6 to 7 p.m. at the community park.
Freemansburg Borough will hold a trick-or-treat bonfire at the Gerald C Yob Community Park. Trick-or-treating will begin after fall festivities, around 6:15 p.m.
Saturday, Oct. 26
"No Tricks, Just a Bunch of Treats," a trick-or-treat event with vendors, a coloring contest, costume contest and vendor contests will come to The Outlets at Wind Creek Saturday, Oct. 26 and Sunday, Oct. 27 from 12 to 5 p.m.
Palmer Township will bring its annual trick-or-treat trail back from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m. at the Charles Chrin Community Center.
Upper Saucon Township, Lynn Township and Weisenberg Township hold trick-or-treat from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m.
Portland Township's trick-or-treat will begin at 4 p.m. through 6 p.m.
Sunday, Oct. 27
The City of Bethlehem's 103rd Annual Halloween Parade will begin at 2:00pm. Rain date is Sunday, Nov. 3. The parade route (approx. 1.5 miles) will begin on West Broad St. and 9th Avenue and continue east on Broad and south on Main Street, concluding on Main and Spring Streets.
Upper Mount Bethel Township's trick-or-treat will take place from 2 to 5 p.m. The Mount Bethel Township Pharmacy will also hold a "trunk-or-treat" at the community park (1535 Potomac Street, Mount Bethel) from 12 to 3 p.m.
Washington Township is also holding a trunk-or-treat from 2 to 5 p.m. at 1021 Washington Blvd. in Bangor, with free hot dogs and cider.
Tuesday, Oct. 29
Palmer Park Mall is hosting a "Malloween" with participating stores from 6 to 8 p.m. It includes a costume contest and free digital photos.
Wednesday, Oct. 30
Slatington Borough and Walnutport Borough will hold trick-or-treat night from 6 to 8 p.m.
Bear Creek Mountain Resort, located at 101 Doe Mountain Ln. in Macungie, will host a "Trick-or-Treat Adventure Night" from 5 to 8 p.m. Trick-or-treating will take place through The Lodge, accompanied by Halloween crafts.
Thursday, Oct. 31
Upper Milford Township said in a Facebook that trick-or-treat is "historically" on Halloween, from 6 to 8 p.m.
"Neighborhoods may schedule as is suitable per location," the post said. "We understand some near the border with Emmaus Borough observe trick-or-treat as scheduled in the borough.
Trick-or-treat also takes place on Halloween from 6 to 8 p.m. in the following municipalities:

***Lower Macungie Township's website also recommends that residents "please check with your individual homeowner's association for additional/alternate dates within your neighborhood."
