Each week she’s joined by reporters to talk about the stories they’ve been following. These journalists are experts in their beats and offer you a greater understanding of the stories they’re working on.
In Allentown, reporter Jason Addy has been following a number of developing stories, including a noose being found on the desk of a Black employee at City Hall.
Council announced federal investigators’ involvement Wednesday, two days after dozens protested and demanded the FBI to take over the probe into what many have called a hate crime.
Allentown Police Chief Charles Roca confirmed to Jason his officers are working in tandem with the FBI and the department will try to lean on federal resources through the investigation.
And, three weeks after 75-year-old Edward Tomcics was fatally struck by a car outside of his Whitehall home on Christmas Day, family, friends and neighbors demanded action.
Reporter Phil Gianficaro attended an emotionally charged Whitehall Township Board of Commissioners meeting Monday night. But earlier in the day, he visited with Tomcics' family.
“It’s like this all the time,” Tomcics’s daughter, Marcia Pacchioli, said as she shook her head at the speeding vehicles outside 3243 Water St.
“My father should still be here. These people just drive way over the speed limit. We’ve complained to the township for years, but nothing is ever done.
“Now, my father’s dead. That’s why we’re going to the meeting, to see if we can get them to do something so another family doesn’t go through what we’re going through.”
