HANOVER TWP., Pa. — Lehigh Valley International Airport will get nearly $1 million to update terminal facilities to make it safer and more accessible, officials announced Friday.
The airport will get $940,000 from the state of Pennsylvania to update the Multi-Modal Transportation Center and airport terminal, state Sen. Nick Miller, D-Lehigh/Northampton, said in announcing the funds.
"These improvements will be made to meet the most current safety, capacity and design standards.
“This funding is a critical investment in the airport’s plan to enhance existing road infrastructure, including the improvement of safety and accessibility for all ABE customers."Lehigh-Northampton Airport Authority Executive Director Thomas R. Stoudt
“I appreciate the state’s continued investment in the Lehigh Valley Airport, as it continues to be a reliable transportation hub for our region,” Miller said.
“By keeping the airport updated, we are ensuring that consumers will have the best experiences when they fly in and out of the Lehigh Valley.”
The funding will come from the Multimodal Transportation Fund, which will fund 58 highway bridge, aviation, port, bike and pedestrian projects in 37 counties across the state.
The goal is to strengthen infrastructure across Pennsylvania by improving such projects.
“This funding is a critical investment in the airport’s plan to enhance existing road infrastructure, including the improvement of safety and accessibility for all ABE customers," Lehigh-Northampton Airport Authority Executive Director Thomas R. Stoudt said.
"Additionally, it will support aeronautical and non-aeronautical revenue opportunities that continue to drive economic development within the region.”
